William Richards
William A. Richards, a psychologist at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, has pursued research with psilocybin during the past decade. His graduate training in theology and psychology included studies with Abraham Maslow and Hanscarl Leuner. His study of psilocybin began in Gttingen, Germany in 1963. From 1967 to 1977, he pursued research with LSD, DPT, MDA and psilocybin at the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center, including protocols designed to investigate the promise of entheogens in the treatment of alcoholism, severe neuroses, narcotic addiction and the psychological distress of cancer patients, and also their educational use with religious and mental-health professionals.
