Tvorogova Nadejda

Nadezhda Dmitrievna Tvorogova, M.D. (Psychology), Professor, a member of JJA of the UNO, also a member of the International Academy of Sciences, Education, Industry and Arts, California (the USA) and the Head of Pedagogical and Medical Psychology department of Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy.

N. D. Tvorogova is a member of the Moscow House of Scientists of the Russian Academy of Sciences and has been awarded the highest professional grade in the field of Psychotherapy in Russia by the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. She is also a member of the Presidium of the Moscow Psychological Society and the Chair of the section called «Psychology of Health» of the Psychological Society of Russia. She is an honorary professor of the faculty of Psychology of Lomonosov Moscow State University. N. D. Tvorogova had been a member of the M.D. Council of Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy in the field of Rehabilitation Medicine for five years (it was from 1998 to 2003); and she has been a member of the M.D. Council of Lomonosov Moscow State University and a member of the Presidium of the Methodological Society for University Education in the field of Classical Psychological University Education since 2007. For the last two years she has also been the Chair of the State Attestation Commission in the field of Clinical Psychology at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

N. D. Tvorogova has graduated the faculty of Psychology of Lomonosov Moscow State University. When she was a third year student there, she chose to specialize in Neuropsychology and Path psychology and took part in clinical discussions at the Laboratory of Neuropsychology of Burdenko Institute that was headed by A. R. Luria, a M.D. and a professor of the faculty of Psychology of Lomonosov Moscow State University. Working under his guidance, N. D. Tvorogova wrote her graduation degree thesis and defended it successfully in 1971.

For the last twenty years, N. D. Tvorogova has been participating in a number of international educational programs: programs in Process oriented Psychotherapy, Humanistic and Family therapy, Positive thinking, Organization Counseling; rendering psychological aid to elderly people; teaching communication skills (skills of good communication of a doctor with a patient) and some other international programs.

From 2000 up to 2008, while she continued working in Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy, N. D. Tvorogova also worked as the Head of Clinical Psychology department of the Russian Academy of Education University. Twenty two educational programs that had to do with teaching many different branches of Psychology in various educational institutions in Russia were created under her guidance. These programs had never existed before, since Psychology is a relatively new profession in Russia; and it was quite important to decide what exactly should be taught to students specializing in various fields of Psychology.

For three years (since 2003), the department headed by N. D. Tvorogova organized yearly scientific conferences named «Psychology of Health», in which both the teachers and the students of various Universities and Institutes in Russia could participate. N. D. Tvorogova is also the editor of Conference materials (collected reports), published by the Russian Academy of Education University. In 2003 and 2004 she took part in a research program of the Academy of Education. This research was considered to be of primary importance and had to do with various Psychological methods and technologies that could be used to increase human health. In 2006 she was the scientific editor of the first Encyclopedia in Russia in Clinical Psychology. It was entitled «Clinical Psychology» and was one of the volumes of the «Psychological Encyclopedia» (that consisted of six volumes).

Since 2005, N. D. Tvorogova has been taking part in yearly Russian Forums called «The Health of our Nation is the basis of Russia’s well-being.» For four years she has been a co-chair of the group of scientists of the «round table» circle working in the field of Psychology of Health (the name of that section of the Forum is «The Health of the Nation and Education»).

N. D. Tvorogova was a Moscow delegate of the recent Congress of Psychologists of the Russian Psychological Society. During this Congress, she headed the section called «Psychology of Health» and also took part in the work of the section called «Psychology of Communication.»

At this moments of her life, N.D. Tvorogova’ s scientific and practical interests are mostly located in the field of Clinical Psychology (especially in such an area as Psychology of Health), Social and Psychological education (she was interested in finding answers to such questions as what could be the best possible ways of teaching communication skills necessary for good communication with one’s family, fellow students or colleagues working in the same medical team; or how groups of people could communicate in a better way). She is also interested in Medical Pedagogy (i.e. in creating and running Schools of Health where people are taught new behavior that could lead to better health). The main goal of N. D. Tvorogova’s clinical, pedagogical and social research work is finding out what needs to be done by those specialists who render psychological aid in order to prevent various diseases; and also whether it is possible for people to support themselves with the help of psychological tools that could help them to have better health.

N. D. Tvorogova is the author of more than 200 scientific publications. She has created the biggest amount of educational programs and teaching materials in the field of General, Pedagogical, Social and Clinical Psychology for the students of various departments of Medical and Pharmaceutical higher educational institutions and colleges in Russia. She is one of the pioneers of Psychological education of the students of Higher Nursery education department, family doctors and specialists in Health Management.
