Silvia Nakkach
Silvia Nakkach, MA, MMT, is an award-winning composer and voice-culturist, author, former psychotherapist, and a pioneer in the field of sound, consciousness, and music shamanism. Her interest in music cosmology and spirituality has led her to collaborate with mystics and master teachers of Indian and South American shamanic traditions. She is the founding director of Vox Mundi School of the Voice, an international project devoted to teaching and preserving sacred music traditions with schools in Brazil, Argentina and around the USA. She has co-created and is in the faculty of the Sound, Voice, Music Healing Certificate at the California Institute of Integral Studies. An internationally accredited specialist in cross-cultural music therapy training, Nakkach has pioneered the integration of devotional chanting with somatic and music psychotherapy. For more than 27 years, Silvia studied Hindustani music with the late maestro Ali Akbar Khan. She is the contributor author of various books, including Music and the Human Process, Music in Human Adaptation, Transpersonal Consciousness, Music Therapy and the End of Life, and she is presently working on her latest book: Who is Singing?. She has released several CD albums. She leads spiritual-music retreats in Brazil, Europe, and India, and trains therapists and musicians in the use of sound and voice to induce contemplative and trace states.
